    வாழ்த்துக்கள்.

    @கானகம்

    மிக்க நன்றி களவாணி மட்டும் இல்லை இன்னும் நிறைய படங்கள் எந்த நோக்கத்திற்காக வரவேற்கப்பட்டனவோ அதை மறந்து யதார்த்தம் என்ற பெயரில் மலினமான படைப்புகளை தருகின்றன. பல வகைகளில் மிகவும் வக்கிரம் நிறைந்த இது போன்ற படங்கள் வணிகரீதியாக எடுக்கபட்டிருந்தால் ஏற்படப்போகும் பாதிப்பை விட, இயல்பாக, சினிமா பாணியில் சொன்னால் nativity யோடு யதார்த்தமாக எடுக்கப்படுவதால் இன்னும் மோசமான விளைவுகளை மக்களிடத்தில் உளவியல்ரீதியாகவும் , அடிப்படை சினிமா ரசனையில் மோசமான பாதிப்பை ஏற்படுத்தும் என்ற கவலையில் தான் இக்கட்டுரை எழுதினேன்.

  5. I read your review on Kalavani and I am totally against your views. I guess you haven't seen guys like "kalavani hero". I have seen a quite a lot of such "beautiful people" while growing up in Kodavasal (a small town near kumbakonam). Is it a flawless-best-movie of the year. No! But there were scenes which had happened in our lives (may be excluding you). I wouldn't compare it with the greatest movies, but would definitely not say the movie was utter waste unlike you.

Why do you say it didn't have the nativity of Thanjavur? I just don't get it. It did have the things that you expected. Possibly you ignored to see them.

Cheran's "Autograph" was a big hit just for the simple fact that everyone has loved someone in their life. So, it easily reached/touched our heart.

BTW, I am 100% with you on Chitti and Kolangal thing. I could never watch a single minute of it. And that Johnny movie too. I hate that movie. Songs were the only attractive thing in that movie.

  10. Mr Mayilravanan (and Chandramohan),

I liked the movie because I have seen each and every scene in that movie in my life. For ex. that villain hitting somebody's head with beer bottle... I was in Kumbakonam bus stand (1997) and saw such a fight in very close quarters. Two days I was totally frightened and even caught fever. So, the movie stays close to my heart. Fine, that's my perspective.

Now, coming to your comments, I was disagreeing to Chandramohan's view. Fair enough. Nowhere did I personally attack Chandramohan. But you calling me lunatic is totally uncalled for. When I criticized Chandramohan's view, you called me lunatic. For my veiws, you are doing the same to me. How different are you from me? You are also lunatic. Your basic problem is you are not able to accept criticism. You wanted everyone to agree. Pathetic!! I am sure Chandramohan will read this and will not have the guts to publish this comment. But at least I have my satisfaction to have answered you.

    Thanks,
    -Geethakrishnan

  12. Dear Mr. Chandramohan,

My sincere thanks for publishing my comments and your comments too. I didn't expect that you will have the courage to publish it (I thought you would silently ignore it), because I did (intentionally) attack you and (purposely and mainly) your friend Mayilravanan. I apologize for that. That wasn't my real intention. As you said, let's not fight amongst us. Lets really debate about your view and mine. I got ticked off because your friend named and called me lunatic. Yes, your friend did a personal attack on me, which is sheer wrong and uncalled for.

I still believe you didn't see my point at all. I understand your point that the forthcoming new movies will be based on the same subject and hence diluted and we will start to hate such trend of movies. Your point well taken. No disagreement on that argument.

Let me ask you this, what's wrong in taking movies with such character as a hero? If someone looks at that character and assumes them-self being depicted there and continues following it, it is something wrong with those individuals. If one is not able to distinguish them-self and the celluloid image, we can't blame the movie or director or producer or actor. We need to have common sense and understand the reality. You are there to enjoy the movie and when you come out of the theater, stop living as that character. If you can't do that basic thing, then please don't watch movies at all. Cinema is not a bible or Koran or Gita. It is a form of an entertainment. We should not yield our life style to movie characters.

I read your other reviews on Ravanan and Rajneeti. I am with you on that but definitely not with you on "Kalavani" :) I am GAME for healthy discussions but not for personal fight.

    Thanks,
    -Geethakrishnan

  14. Yes, I do watch other than Indian and H(b)ollywood movies. Especially Majid Majidi movies (Song of sparrows my fav. If you haven't watched it. I would strongly encourage you to see it right away) are my all time fav. Spanish, French too. In the current era, I would say Hindi movies are better than Tamil. Not sure if you will agree ;)

No where I can compare current Tamil movies with world movies. When it comes to Tamil movies, I lower my expectation. I believe you can't do that. Well I'll never call "Kalavani" the best movie. I liked it and it deserves its due. And you didn't give its due. That's my problem. And everyone one of your followers/friends agreed to your view. And I wanted to disagree :)

If you watched all of Majid Majidi movies, after 2 or 3 movies, I guess you will say it is boring. Am I right?
